Windows Tablets Now Accounts For 15.7% Of Japan’s Total Tablet Sales

  When is comes to tablet market, Apple still remains the top vendor both in terms of unit volume and eco-system growth. Microsoft jumped into this market with Windows 8, and followed by Windows 8.1 last year. Microsoft Windows is competing with Apple iPad in the high-end and white box Android tablets in the low end. Digitimes today reported a good news for Microsoft regarding its sales in Japan. The sales of Windows-based tablets in Japan have been rising since October 2013 as a result in February 2014, 15.7% of Japan’s tablet sales were contributed by Windows-based models. For a comparison, Windows just had a share of 2% in the worldwide tablet market. With Windows tablets gaining market share, Japan’s tablet market is expected to see a more balanced development, but competition between iOS, Android and Windows will remain keen in 2014, Digitimes Research believes. Microsoft Begins Roll Out Of New Xbox One System Update

Microsoft today announced that they are beginning the roll-out of latest Xbox One system update to end users. This update was released as a preview last month and now Microsoft has released it to the general consumers. Here’s the final breakdown of the features rolling out to Xbox One systems starting tonight and over the next few days: Game and app saves and updates. A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently. Friends improvements. Notifications will be added to see when favorites and friends sign in to Xbox Live. This was one of the most frequently requested features, so we made it a priority to include it in this update. Windows 8.1 Update Available Today For Volume License Customers

Why it is unlikely that most enterprises are updating to Windows 8.1 Update, the update is now available for volume license customers. Microsoft has released the following: Windows 8.1 with Windows 8.1 Update integrated Windows Server 2012 R2 with Windows Server 2012 R2 Update integrated Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry with Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Update This is the final part of the release cycle that included  the release via MSDN on the 2nd and Windows Update on the 8th. Additional updates can be found through Windows Update and WSUS. A separate issue was found that impacted customers utilizing WSUS configured in the very specific, non-default way.  If affected, the devices will not receive future updates released by Microsoft.  Customers should read  KB2959977 for remediation guidance. Microsoft Makes Performance Improvements to PowerPoint Online

Microsoft continues to make improvements to its Office Online suite at a more rapid pace. Microsoft has been focused on making performance improvements to PowerPoint online. Microsoft has completely re-engineered the text editor so that when a user is editing slides the layout looks more like the final result. The re-engineered text editor helps maintain a high fidelity view. Performance and video playback optimizations have also been made by speeding up advancement of slides in the editor and by adding the ability to play back embedded YouTube videos. Today Microsoft added printing support for OneNote Online, a feature that has been traditionally found in the desktop application. Microsoft has prioritized features based on customer feedback.
